If you are a past delegate from any of our youth retreats, and are looking for a way to get involved, you’ve come to the right place!
Every year, youth across the valley partner with the Inclusion Center to run programs in their schools, faith groups, and community organizations. These events, programs and initiatives are all part of a bigger goal of building community and inclusion.
Oppression Awareness Week
The corner stone of youth driven programs is Oppression Awareness Week.
O.A.W. is a week long campaign to raise awareness and incease knowledge of both discrimination and its negative effects on humans as well as the ways individuals can ally for each other and build stronger, safer, communities.
Oppression Awareness Week combines interactive displays and exhibits, student led activities, and media distribution to educate and inform participants about oppression and activism.
Mix It Up Day
Created and promoted by the Southern Poverty Law Center, MIU is a national day long initiative to break down social barriers in schools and communities, in the hopes of dispelling stereotypes and building new relationships.
Mix It Up Day is ran in several schools every year in Utah. Each year past delegates from Anytown Utah , or other youth retreats, run activities in their cafeterias and classrooms that are dedigned to encourage students to break out of comfort zones and meet new people. From dances, to random selection, or musical chairs, youth creatively find ways to have fun and learn about the people they walk among every day.
This event has become so popular that many schools run and entire week of activities, instead of just one day! Last year, over 4 million students participated in MIU initiatives.
